KW - Deforestation, Hydrograph analysis, Water yield increase, Watershed management AB - The Wagon Wheel Gap watershed study is indeed a unique event in the history of snow hydrology. It was the grandfather of watershed management studies in this country. Fortunately, the authors of the final report on the Wagon Wheel Gap experiment included all the daily climatic and hydrologic data collected over the experiment's fifteen years' duration. Recently, these data were keypunched and stored for computer access. The final report of Bates and Henry stated conclusions that were not based on any vigorous statistical tests. A reanalysis and statistical treatment of the original data have brought to light some discrepancies with the findings of Bates and Henry. Over forty hydrograph parameters were currenly investigated. The important snow hydorlogy parameters and their response to watershed deforestation are discussed.
