Abstract | Snow survey records are analyzed in terms of the major vegetative divisions of Canada. The complex roles of relief, water bodies and forest association varieties are demonstrated and discussed as they are key factors in snow ablation, accumulation and transport. Climatic zones of the country are also considered. In mountainous and arctic areas there is insufficient basic data to permit adequate definition.Distinctive regional snow storage patterns are outlined and some implications are drawn for water resource planners. |
