Abstract | As part of an environmental impact study, the climate of the mountainous areas north and west of Vancouver, Canada were studied to assess possible climatic limitations to urban development of the mountainous slopes. A model of mean annual precipitation based upon available data and meteorological theory is presented. A mean annual snowfall map is derived in part from relationships between mean annual snowfall and mean annual precipitation at various altitudes. Implications for urban planning are discussed. |
