Abstract | With seventy-five percent of the earth's fresh water supply locked up in Antarctic and arctic sheets, this source of water could be used for fresh water in water short areas. The method of transporting large icebergs by ocean tugs is discussed with expected melt rates of the icebergs due to drag friction and ocean temperatures. Power rates and speed of the tugs is computed as well as methods of tow. Methods of reclaiming this fresh water at the final destination are also discussed. |
