Abstract | Investigation of snow measurement accuracy has been conducted by the California Cooperative Snow Survey Program at the Alpha Instrument Evaluation Site since 1965. Results of volumetric tests conducted at the site to determine snow sample tube accuracy are presented. A method to adjust manual control samples at operational automatic snow sensors in order to check telemetered data accuracy is outlined. Application of correction factors, derived from these studies, is illustrated. An adopted operational program for obtaining scheduled control samples at field sites in California is explained. |
