Abstract | A resume of snow research by Dr. J.E. Church Jr. is presented in a philosophical trend. Early concepts of Dr. Church relative to the conservation of snow for water supply as well as the conservation of forest products through better forest management, are discussed as related to a more stable water runoff period. The early concepts and needs of better water supply forecasting from snow surveys are forcibly brought to mind. This paper is a great tribute to Dr. Church, a humanitarian, a self-made scientist of snow water conservation. |
