Abstract

One of four papers dealing with snow hydrology of water yield from forested areas in different sections of the United States and different climatic and vegetative types.A resume of past studies performed in the several California forests is presented. The effects of logging operations and the various type of timber cutting patterns, strip, block, clear, and selective cutting practices are studied to determine the water yield from each area so affected. Logging slash disposal methods are also studied with their effects upon water yield and also reforestation and effects on soil moisture. Various aspects and slopes of forested areas were considered.
