Abstract | The values of snow surveys are shown to have a very high correlation to runoff when used relatively close to the source. This data is most useful in predicting forest fire hazards and how serious the fire potential will be during the late summer and fall months. The U.S. Forest Service is deeply involved in cooperation with other agencies in the field work of snow survey measurements. The data collected is being found very useful for other purposes than forecasting the probable streamflow. |
