Abstract | A new spring balance for the Mount Rose snow sampler improved compactness, readability, weight, and accuracy. The dial range reads from 1 to 100, and the numbers and graduations are plainly visible. Some of the changes recommended to correct defects are: lengthening of the suspension bar, expansion of the zero adjustment to a full turn, strengthening of the framework of the case, finishing the case with a dull surfacing, and providing a balance with a screw which can be turned by a knife. |
