Abstract | Photographs were taken of the snow cover on a section of the Continental Divide near Hoosier Pass at the headwaters of the Middle Fork of the Platte River, beginning in the spring of 1934. The same section of each photograph was covered with a transparent template of cross section paper to calculate the percent of the area covered with snow. The data of a 10-year period indicate that predictions of total streamflow can be made from a photograph taken on May 1. |
