Abstract | The measurement of factors involved in the process of snowmelt as affecting quantity of runoff derived from melt over periods of daily, monthly, and seasonally are described. Five factors were selected for investigation.(1) The performance of shielded precipitation storage gages.(2) Methods of interpreting the commonly available daily maximum and minimum temperatures in terms of degree-days.(3) Analysis of rates of snowmelt.(4) Calculation of evaporation losses from snow.(5) Synthesis of rate of runoff from snowmelt hydrographs.Detailed data collected are shown on histographs and computations of snowmelt are illustrated in tabular form. |
