Abstract

Cloud seeding experiments to increase the snowpack were started in the upper watershed of the Arkansas River. Silver iodide generators located at ground level were used. Winter precipitation amounts of 10 western slope stations were correlated with upper Arkansas basin snowpack values. Results indicate that high precipitation and above normal snowpack years are usually associated with high ratio values of Aspen Precipitation to Arkansas water content. The water supply forecast based on snow survey data exceeds the forecast based on precipitation reports form valley stations.
