Abstract | Correlations of temperatures with snow-melt runoff from a watershed during the spring floods are presented. The establishment of correlations are discussed by which temperatures for April, May, June, might be forecast from data available on April 1, with sufficient accuracy to estimate the form and sequence of snow-melt runoff. The Methods forming the basis for such forecasting are presented. A forecast for the flow of the Boise River in the spring of 1951 from 28-year temperature data of Idaho City is made using average 5-day values of daily maximum temperatures. A satisfactory correspondence between the forecasted and the actual hydrograph is evident. |
