Abstract

The application of the Unit-Hydrograph method of forecasting floods from rainfall is described. The same basic principals are suggested for designing a procedure of forecasting floods from snow covered portions of the river basin. The Unit-Hydrograph procedure involves searching the several snowmelt factors, to establish the unit of time with the unit of snowmelt resulting in a unit of runoff volume. These units are applied to the area of the basin involved. No sample calculation is presented.
