Abstract

Much of the snow zone within the State of California lies at high elevation in remote areas. Increasing demands on the water supply forecasting activity has resulted in the need for accurate and timely mesurement of the current snowpack. Introduction of snow sensors to this environment has resulted in some unique obstacles to maintaining the measurement equipment. This poster paper presents solutions developed by the California Cooperative Snow Surveys program to two of these problems, bear damage to the sensor tanks and waterproof housing for the pressure transducer.
