Abstract | As an integral part of a comprehensive plan of protection from flood hazards in New England area, the Corps of Engineers has designed an automatic data collection network. This radio operated network provides extensive hydrologic data including river, reservoir and tide levels, wind velocity and direction, barometric pressure and precipitation levels in five major New England river basins. At the central station the reporting network is interfaced directly with an IBM 1130 which can automatically interrogate the entire system and provides a complete printout in three minutes. |
