Abstract

A report of glaciological studies of the Blue Glacier on Mt. Olympus in north west Washington on the Olympic Peninsula is presented, in connection with the Geophysical Year Program 1957-58. Historical and geographical history and a description of the glacier are given. Seismic and boreholes data indicate the depth of 900 feet for the glacier. Other detailed information is given. A year round study was conducted of meteorological conditions, wind, temperature, humidity, rainfall, snowfall, ablation and spatial and temporal variations in snow albedo were recorded. Data are discussed in the text and tabulations are included.
