Abstract | An outline of a simple objective method, applicable in the Great Plains area, is presented for forecasting streamflow from both snowmelt and precipitation. Current temperature, precipitation and snow depth data are used in the forecast procedure which is fashioned after the Unit Hydrograph procedure. The basin or area runoff is then computed from appropriate rainfall-runoff relationships. In discussion Donald L. Miller points out some differences in opinion as to the degree-day interpretations to temperature values for snowmelt computations for the Great Plains area. |
