Abstract

Evaporation from a snowpack during winter temperatures is measured in an attempt to satisfy a theoretical energy balance formula of factors involved. Field laboratory equipment is used to test the theoretical computations. Formula derivation and data from field tests are shown. Explanations of the methods and procedures are discussed together with an analysis of the problems.A discussion by Mr. David M. Rockwood substantiates the theory involved and suggestions are offered.
