Abstract | The vertical variation in the conductivity of water obtained from subsampling ice blocks from Elizabeth Lake, Labrador and Lake St. George in southern Ontario was determined. For the Elizabeth Lake block, conductivity ranged form 72 micromhos/cm in the white ice to undetectable in the black ice. The variations in conductivity are related to the mechanism of ice formation and the structure of the ice blocks. |
